Khodadawd “Cody” J. Farzad, B.S., appointed to EmployersChoiceOnline.com as
Manager of pre-employment background screening and drug testing.
Farzad’s duties include managing the day-to-day operations of pre-employment screening and ensuring that all
background reports are federally compliant with consumer reporting guidelines.
Farzad attended California State University Long Beach, located in Long Beach, California, completing a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Farzad participated in the Learning Alliance program, an academic
community that highlighted and recognized the strong academic aptitude of its freshman members.
While attending California State University Long Beach, Farzad was on the Dean's List for one year, studied
criminal justice and sociology, and was an active member of the campus community. In addition, Farzad worked
on campus at the Main Library, assisting students with various research projects, including procuring resources
from other institutions and searching library databases for current periodicals.
Prior to his addition at Diversified Risk Management, Inc., (DRM) Farzad was a member of the Student Safety
Committee at California State University Long Beach. The committee was comprised of faculty, staff and students
who met monthly to go over various safety issues impacting the University, as well as the surrounding
communities. Farzad had an instrumental role in the CSO (Campus Safety Officer) program which provides safety
officer escorts for students departing from various locations at the University during evening hours.
PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Previously, Farzad was employed by the Orange County Department of Probation, holding the title of Deputy
Probation Counselor. Farzad provided counseling for incarcerated youths between the ages of sixteen and
eighteen. Farzad was assigned to Los Pinos Conservation Camp, located in the Cleveland National Forest,
assisting incarcerated minors in obtaining an equivalent high school education as well as basic social skills. Farzad
was responsible for starting a weekly current-events program geared towards introducing contemporary social
issues to at-risk youths.
Farzad made the transition to the private sector, working as a Loss Prevention Manager for both Target
Corporation and Sears Holdings. Mr. Farzad was instrumental in identifying and implementing innovative new
strategies to reduce inventory shortage. Specific examples include identifying and resolving internal/external theft
through dedicated surveillance and strategic interviewing techniques. Mr. Farzad tenure in Loss Prevention has
greatly expanded his relationships with local law enforcement agencies, a resource he has brought to DRM.
Farzad started his career at DRM as a Student Intern in the Winter of 2005. As an intern Farzad was trained on
how to effectively conduct mobile surveillance and completed concise reports detailing his findings. Farzad was
able to put his training to the test when he was assigned to conduct multiple workers’ compensation cases both
locally and out of the area. Farzad continued to provide support to the corporate investigations team by preparing
reports, editing video and preparing witness statements. In the Summer of 2006, Farzad was brought on as a full
time background investigator assigned to conduct pre-employment background checks.
