Hostile Termination

For every workplace shooting that receives coverage from the media, there are many violent incidents that never become publicized. We believe that proactive employee education is of chief importance. Our seasoned investigators are capable of training employees on how to assess threats and make the split-second decisions that can literally save lives and mitigate violence in the workplace.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. This maxim applies now more than ever when it comes to workplace violence. When trained by our protection professionals in accordance with our arduous standards, employees gain the tactics necessary to detect, assess, and neutralize risks before they become dangerous situations.

Film and television have falsely convinced many Americans that workplace violence is a long, drawn-out affair that includes hostage negotiations and takes several hours to reach a resolution. This is done for dramatic effect; in reality, the majority of violent incidents that occur in workplaces are over in minutes, not hours.

This means that every minute counts and the police may not arrive before the worst is already over. With that in mind, we stress the importance of proactive education and judicious intervention with disgruntled employees to avoid violence and maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

The U.S. Department of Labor Statistics reported 518 people died in workplace homicides in 2010. In addition to the tragic loss of lives, the costs associated with workplace violence include lost business, lower productivity, medical expenses, higher insurance rates, negative publicity and litigation.
