Routine Crimes Solved by Cellphone Tracking

Police Departments across the U.S. are taking advantage of the Federal government’s most powerful and controversial tool: Phone Surveillance software and tools.   With the ability to intercept data from the cellphones of anyone, track the location of specific phones (and thus the location of the owner) and pose as cellular phone towers, law enforcement is now capable of quickly solving many routine crimes at a faster pace.

Police departments from California to Florida are purchasing these advanced tracking systems, which in some cases can cost almost half a million dollars.  From tracking down someone making harassing phone calls to locating a stolen car by tracking the owner’s phone which was left in the vehicle, there are many sophisticated methods to catch a criminal thanks to the advancement of these tools.
