WeTip Presents the First Ever Bill Brownell Executive Leadership Award at WeTip’s 39th Annual Conference
April 30, 2012 - Patricia A. Kotze-Ramos, President and CEO of Diversified Risk Management, Inc. was honored to accept WeTip's prestigious 2012 Bill Brownell Executive Leadership Award. The Award was presented by Susan Aguilar, CEO of WeTip, at WeTip's 39th Annual National Crime-Fighting Conference held on April 27, 2012.
Ms. Aguilar stated, "Something that has always amazed me is how much a really busy person accomplishes. It seems as though the busier a person is, and the less time they have, the more they actually get done... [Patty] has long been an active community leader and volunteer serving as a regional director for Soroptimist International, Chair of the Downey Public Works Committee, Board Member of the Californian's Dedicated to Education Foundation and President-Elect of the Downey Chamber of Commerce. As a community leader with a vision for safe neighborhoods, Patty has demonstrated exemplary leadership in her business endeavors, community activism and contributions to volunteerism."
The award is named after the late Bill Brownell, who co-founded WeTip along with his wife Miriam in 1972. WeTip is a nationally recognized pioneer in anonymous tip services. WeTip began as a citizen's group to eradicate illicit drug in our communities. Shortly after its inception, WeTip expanded to accept information on all major crimes as it partnered with of law enforcement.
The concept is simple, but very effective: WeTip provides an anonymous, toll-free crime hotline so that anyone wishing to report a crime or information about a crime can do so and want the authorities to have the information without having to reveal their identity. This tool allows private citizens fighting back against school shootings, workplace violence, terrorist bombings, hate crimes, arson, and drive by gang shootings. This innovative program has become a safe haven for citizens throughout the nation, in schools, in business, in housing authorities, and in retirement homes
Others recognized at the conference include Mo Canady, Executive Director of the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), San Bernardino County Sherriff's Department, Mr. Marcelino Toresjbens, Assistant Special Agent in Charge/AOTR Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Darran Cruzan, Deputy Director, Bureau of Indian Affairs.
